Premiere: Caroline Kingsbury Debuts Bold Single, “Pain + Pleasure”
Shock Treatment.
Caroline Kingsbury is releasing her latest single, “Pain + Pleasure,” today exclusively on REVERIE. The track, which drops this Friday, September 12, will be her third release from her upcoming EP, Shock Treatment, out September 26 via Seeker Music.
This track is a departure from her high-energy synth-pop anthems. The stripped down piano balled “Pain + Pleasure” is intimate, raw and emotionally expansive. Across each single Kingsbury shows off her artistic range while still delivering flashes of the synth magic she’s known for.
With a spot on the All Things Go lineup later this month alongside The Marías, The Last Dinner Party and Sharon Van Etten, and her co-headlining tour with MARIS kicking off this Saturday, Kingsbury is a star on the rise.
REVERIE wrote to Caroline Kingsbury to ask about how she is using her platform as an artist.
REVERIE: From waving the Trans Pride Flag on tour to performing at festivals like Lollapalooza and All Things Go, you’ve become a powerful voice for queer joy. How has that message evolved for you as your platform grows?
Caroline: It hasn’t changed one bit. Since I came out as queer it’s been my mission to be as loud and proud about that… it helps other people feel more comfortable with themselves and in the current political climate we cannot afford to be quiet.
“Pain + Pleasure” is out September 12 via Seeker Music. Caroline Kingsbury’s album Shock Treatment follows on September 26.
